We also have a rockpool in class. Robbie our class puppet kindly went to Prestwick Beach one weekend and collected some shells and smooth pebbles for P1. We wrote numbers to 30 on the shells and our double phonic sounds on the smooth stones. We have also added a lot of our toys from home to the rockpool so we have to hunt around to find what we are looking for. We even have a Mermaid Barbie who goes swimming in it sometimes to cool off when the class gets warm. Above is a photo of us looking for the number shells only. We collected them then put them into order. At tidy up time Mrs Weir called out numbers to us and we took turns at finding our number and hiding it back in the rockpool for others to find.
